Highlights from Gamescom 2016

When we were at Gamescom the first time 1 year ago, we had 4 games to show. This year, we had 40!

Earlier this year it was time for Gamescom - a trade fair for video games in Cologne, Germany. Game developers, press and hundreds of thousands of fans gather in spacious halls to share a common passion - video games. Whether you’re a major AAA game studio, a game-related hardware provider or an indie developer - this would be the place to be.

Just like last year, AirConsole was present with a small booth within the Swiss Games area.  At Gamescom 2015, we were a month away from our initial launch and had our first four games to show - this year, we offer more than 40, with several more games still in production to be released in the upcoming months. The team was represented in Cologne by our game developer Alice, and our product manager Rafael.

Before the start of the Gamescom itself, the two of them attended the Respawn - Gathering of Game Developers, where Alice had a chance to give a talk on “The Potential of Smartphone Controllers in Local Multiplayer Game Design”. If you’re interested in what kind of thoughts go into designing games for smartphone controllers, you can check out the slides here.

On the actual public opening day of the Gamescom event, we held a Tournament featuring our upcoming game The Neighborhood, giving our audience and fans a chance to get an exclusive first look at the new hilarious game from DNA Studios - the developers of Tower of Babel. With free beer and Swiss chocolate on offer for all visitors at the booth, we managed to gather quite the crowd: The event ended up being a huge success, with 40-50 people cheering and shouting while 6 teams took turns in playing the game on a massive overhead screen. We live streamed most of the party on Facebook, where you can still have a look now.

There are a lot of new things being planned and implemented in the AirConsole office and we are incredibly excited for the upcoming fall. Stay tuned!

The AirConsole team wishes you a wonderful weekend.
